Quirk eMarketing has won an international award for innovation from E-consultancy, for there Google Earth layer they implemented for SA Tourism site.
E-consultancy is a UK online platform for training, events and information on online marketing and e-commerce best practice. The awards, which are aimed at exposing innovative new ideas in the industry, are judged by a panel of companies that represent the best in innovation, such as Apple, Google and Orange.
The South African Tourism Google Earth layer was launched in June this year. The layer is built upon existing Google Earth technology which allows users to travel the world by means of satellite imagery and aerial photography.
The South African layer includes over 120 points of interest and a fully functional supporting website, providing an itinerary planner and detailed information about specific areas.
The layer is the 3rd official tourism layer to be integrated into the Google Earth core.
